| Welcome IU Parents! |
Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to Indiana University Greek Life! On behalf of the entire Panhellenic community, I want to congratulate you on your daughter’s decision to go Greek! Your daughter will have many opportunities at IU, and we are happy that she is considering sorority life. By joining one of IU’s 19 chapters, your daughter will be joining thousands of others on campus in search of leadership opportunities, service opportunities, community involvement, sisterhood and life-long friendships.
All of our chapters have scholarship programs that encourage positive study habits. The GPAs of our chapters exceed the all-women’s undergraduate GPA on campus each semester, demonstrating the commitment of our Panhellenic community to academic excellence.
Each chapter at IU has a national philanthropy and completes at least one fundraiser for that cause each academic year. Philanthropies range from 5k races to talent competitions for various causes such as the Children’s Miracle Network, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Service is also an integral part of IU’s Greek Community. IU Greeks are constantly bettering the Bloomington community by volunteering at local organizations like the Boys and Girls Club, Hoosier Hills Food Bank and Bloomington Parks and Recreation.
Sorority membership offers a variety of opportunities to develop leadership skills. Panhellenic members are encouraged to hold positions on their chapters’ executive boards. Sorority women also hold some of the highest leadership positions on campus and are involved in academic and professional clubs, student government, honor societies, service organizations and varsity, club and intramural sports.
Joining a sorority is also a great opportunity to experience the many social activities that Greek organizations have to offer. IU sorority women participate in a wide variety of social functions including formals, retreats, IU Homecoming and the Little 500.
We look forward to working with your daughter in becoming a part of our community. Sorority membership has been a very positive experience for thousands of students at IU and elsewhere, and we hope that your daughter finds the same to be true.
Go Hoosiers and Go Greek!
